ULTRA LOW TEMPERATURE LONG LINERS
Modern Long-line Fishing Vessels are simplistic in design, but fitted with sophisticated equipment for operation. In essence each vessel is a ‘floating freezer platform’ that facilitates the setting and hauling of the Long-line by using hydraulic winches, line coilers, and conveyors. Work areas are designed to efficiently process the fresh catch for rapid freezing and storage.
The Ultra Low Temperature freezers operate in the minus sixty degree celsius (-60’C) range, which is a minimum requirement in the preparation of fish for the Japanese sashimi market. On average each vessel has the capability to set and retrieve up to 5,000-hooks per shot, and the capacity to process up to ten (10) ton of fresh fish per day.
