PELAMIS FISHING

Pelamis operates two different style of fishing vessels, Tuna Long-liners and Tuna Purse-seiners. The target catch for each style of vessel is different.

TUNA LONG-LINING

Pelamis Long-line fishing vessels are large ultra-modern ships, equipped as specialist “Sashimi” vessels, capable of catching, processing, freezing and storing fish for the highly lucrative Japanese market.

They target the high grade tuna species of Southern Bluefin Tuna (Thunnus maccoyii), Yellowfin tuna (Thunnus albacares), Bigeye tuna (T. obesus).

TUNA PURSE-SEINING

Pelamis Purse-seine fishing vessels are larger ultra-modern ships, equipped to catch large quantities of lower grade tuna for the "canning" market. They target Skipjack tuna (Katsuwonus pelamis).
